Sensor Based and Time Based Irrigation System
The Need :
Power availability in rural areas is limited to a maximum of 6 hours and mostly supplied in 2 phases during morning and night. Operating irrigation control devices at night is difficult so farmers use auto starters. The problem with this is the auto starters start once the power is supplied and keeps running till the power is interrupted leading to excessive wastage of energy and water. Moreover, water requirements for crops depend on various parameters such as humidity, soil moisture, temperature, crop type etc. There is no available solution that can prevent energy and water wastage by optimizing the supply of water required by the plants.
Our Solution :
Our offering is a smart irrigation control system (AMMIC) which increases crop productivity, optimizes energy and water consumption and reduces manpower requirements by automating the operation of irrigation control devices with the help of sensors. This system can be further modified to be controlled through remote access thereby increasing the efficiency of the process. There basically 3 versions of the system – namely a sequential timer based system for auto ON/OFF purpose, sensor based and time based irrigation control systems. The system ensures that exact amount of water required by the plants is irrigated at different time intervals thereby reducing water and energy wastage.
