Micro Weather Station

The Advanced Mode Micro Irrigation System developed by Girish Badragond is a smart and efficient solution aimed at transforming traditional irrigation practices into a more sustainable and resource-friendly process. This unique controller allows farmers to operate pump sets and irrigation valves remotely, eliminating the need for physical presence in the fields. At its core, the micro-irrigation controller regulates the flow of water based on plant requirements, ensuring that crops receive the exact amount of water they need. This precise control minimizes wastage, conserves groundwater, and ensures that available water is used to its maximum potential. The system is integrated with solar-powered sensors that are placed in different sections of the soil. These sensors continuously monitor soil moisture levels and send real-time signals to the controller. Based on this data, the unit automatically switches the motor on or off, adjusting water flow according to priority. Once the soil’s moisture requirement is fulfilled, the motor shuts off, preventing over-irrigation and waterlogging. This automation makes irrigation hassle-free, saving both time and labour while significantly increasing efficiency.

Designed to suit farms of different scales, the system can cover more than 10 acres of land at a cost of approximately ₹1.5 lakhs, while a smaller version for 2–3 acres is priced between ₹20,000 and ₹25,000. By making smart irrigation affordable and accessible, this technology not only improves crop yield and soil health but also empowers farmers to adopt modern IoT-based agriculture practices that reduce costs and enhance sustainability.
